In 1969, Mr. Rama left India to pursue a Master of Business Administration in the United States. His career in hospitality started humbly, working as a dishwasher at a Howard Johnson motel. With hard work and determination, he was soon promoted to a waiter, and just four years later, in 1973, he made his first significant step by purchasing the 37-room Sunset Motel in Pomona, California. His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence quickly attracted his brothers, who joined him in creating what would become a thriving family business. Over the past 37 years, the Rama family has built and acquired 79 hotels, operating under prestigious franchise flags such as Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, and Starwood.
